The Research and Business Development Office is divided into three sections, they are as follows:

Business Development Section
This section covers all aspects of research-related activities involving organisations from the private sector. Activities include studentships, research collaborations, clinical trials, commercial services and the protection and commercialisation of intellectual property.

Public Sector Research Section
The Public Sector Research Section covers all aspects of the grant application and tendering process for public sector funders up to the point at which the grant/contract is accepted by the University and a project account code allocated. As well as public sector funders, such as research councils, government departments and the NHS, our remit also includes all charity funding.

Post Award Finance Section
Our Section deals with the post award aspects of administering project accounts. This includes advice on management of project finances, invoicing or submission of claims, and approval of funding for project appointed staff.
