The Estates Office is responsible for the management of all the University's estate, including the acquisition and development of new sites, major and minor capital works, the maintenance of land and buildings and an extensive range of support services.

AVS
We provide facilities and expertise to support the presentation needs of the University, and will do the best that resources allow to anticipate and meet your requirements. There are 5 sections to AVS:Print, Graphics, Photography, Technical Support and Video. Some of our services are free, and almost all other charges are lower than equivalent external prices.

Development
Responsible for all capital building projects, minor works, energy management and space management.

Facilities & Maintenance
Responsible for the management of building and services maintenance, telecommunications, post, waste disposal, recycling schemes, furnishings, furniture, site and building signage, stationery and office supplies.

Finance Unit
Responsible for the financial and information service for the Estates Office including energy contracts, business rates, council tax and the university’s works of art. Also provides insurance cover for all legal and regulatory requirements and advice and assistance on insurance matters including a claims handling service.

Gardens & Grounds
Aims to provide a high quality service in respect of the management and maintenance of all University grounds, except sports grounds, to the satisfaction, safety and enjoyment of students, staff and visitors.

Porters & Cleaners
Responsible for providing a cleaning and portering service to the non-residential buildings including cleaning daytime security; driving, office moves, refuse removal, assisting with deliveries, the collection and delivery of mail and room set-ups.

Security
Provides a security service for the University covering lost property, car parking and the provision of locks, keys and access cards.

Sports & Recreation
The Sports & Recreation Service run the “University” side of Sport at the University; indoor facilities, sports grounds, staff, fitness programme and intramural sport . The service also administers all public use and private hire (including conferences) of the University sports facilities. The service was awarded Investor in People status in 2003.
