Family Programme
The Family Programme is a service provided by the University of Leicester for the parents or other close family members of our students.
We believe it is important for the families of our students to be involved in the life of the University.
At Leicester we have much to offer students - an excellent education in a supportive environment with a wide range of facilities. We strive to help every student fulfil his or her potential and acquire the skills and knowledge they need to develop as individuals and to make a valuable contribution to society. We recognise the role which the family provides in achieving these ends.
Benefits
Members of the Family Programme receive newsletters by email or post to keep them in touch with general developments at the University and events and projects which may be of interest.
Family Programme members are welcome to use the University Bookshop which is open to the general public as well as students. The Bookshop offers an arrangement by which money may be deposited by parents or friends and later used to purchase books and stationery. For further details please call (0116) 252 2000.
Events
Parents and families of new students are invited to join the Vice-Chancellor and colleagues for an informal reception on the afternoon before the start of the Autumn Term - the day on which most new students come into residence (separate arrangements apply to new international and medical students). This is an excellent opportunity to find out more about the Family Programme, to meet members of staff and to be briefed on the University's student welfare provision. We will send invitations to families of new students before the start of the academic year.
You are also very welcome to join us at some of the social events organised by the Leicester Alumni Association. For details of forthcoming events, go to the Events & Reunions page.
