Henry Wellcome Laboratories of Structural Biology

The Henry Wellcome Laboratories of Structural Biology have state of the art facilities for macromolecular structure determination and the analysis of macromolecular intreactions and function.

Research Interests:

The research interests of the members of Laboratories are quite diverse - including gene expression, enzymology, cell signalling and disease. Please click on the individual groups for more information.

Faclilities:

NMR:

NMR Intranet

The NMR facility has a 500MHz, two 600MHz and an 800MHz spectrometer. All are equipped for modern multinuclear multidimensional experiments with croyprobes fitted to the 800MHz and one of the 600MHz systems.

X-ray Crystallography:

Crystallography

The X-ray crystallography facility is equipped with state of the art robotics for setting up nanolitre crystallizations and for automated visualization of crystallization trails. Crystals can be screened using the in-house X-ray generator and imaging plate. Diffraction data are collected at Synchrotron Radiation Sources at ESRF and Diamond.

Bioinformatics and Computational Biology:

Bioinformatics

The Bioinformatics and Computational Biolog group has expertise in diverse fields of bioinformatics such as protein structure prediction and fold recognition, molecular modelling and docking, sequence and phylogenic analysis.

Protein Expression Laboratory:

Protex

The Biochemistry Department has established a protein expression laboratory that works closely with members of the Henry Wellcome Laboratories of Strucutral Biology to generate expression constructs and proteins for structural studies.
