Faculty of Arts Graduate
Studies

Welcome to the next
step in your career!
The Faculty
represents a wide range of research interests in the humanities (through
the departments of English, History of Art and Film, Museum
Studies; and the
Schools of Historical Studies, Modern Languages and Archaeology & Ancient
History). There are also several research centres which, administered
through the departments and with the collaboration of members of Faculty
staff, have become focal points for interdisciplinary research, covering
social and political history, art, literature and other major research
themes.
The Faculty places a strong emphasis on equipping students with the skills
and ideological background for a research career in the humanities. It
runs a series of conference-style research training sessions for all higher
degree students; and a supportive postgraduate
community is encouraged through the training sessions and an online
'virtual' community.
The Faculty works alongside
the University
Graduate School, which extends
the opportunity for cross-disciplinary research and an active graduate
community.

If you have any general questions about postgraduate study within the
Faculty, please contact Karen Bignold.
