Head of Group: Professor NJM London Academic members: Professor AR Naylor, Dr NPJ Brindle, Mr R Sayers. The research group pursues a wide range of clinical and laboratory studies related to the peripheral circulation. The main themes are: investigation of mechanisms involved in the formation of abdominal aortic aneurysms and assessing methods of repair; signalling mechanisms regulating vascular development, maintenance and regression - in particular the Tie family of receptor tyrosine kinases; carotid artery disease studies (e.g. optimisation of endarterectomy procedures and mechanisms of plaque instability); clinical studies of venous ulceration.
