Pharmacology and Therapeutics Group

The clinical research interests of the group include the use of biomarkers such as the natriuretic peptides for diagnosing, and predicting the prognosis of, heart failure and ischemic heart disease. Basic science studies include the role of sodium hydrogen exchangers in hypertension, diabetic nephropathy and pre-eclampsia; the role of the NADPH oxidase derived free radicals in tissue damage in hypertension, diabetes and pre-eclampsia.
