ELKS
- E-learning and Knowledge Sharing: international community of expertise in use of learning technologies in HE

The ELKS (E-learning and knowledge sharing) community is run by Beyond Distance on behalf of the UN-GAID network.

It is a community of expertise in research and practice in e-learning and learning technologies in HE

www.elks-community.org

ELKS aims to share resources and expertise via online forums about using technology in learning.

ELKS is committed to:
  1. analysing existing and on-going research, programmes and practices in e-learning and distance learning, with a view to identifying best practice and developing guidelines, standards or templates for dissemination;
  2. sharing knowledge and findings of research studies on cutting-edge, new or emergent issues in higher education;
  3. identifying technological or organizational transformational solutions in order to overcome barriers to development using Information and Communication Technologies in the higher education sector; and
  4. actively seeking opportunities for, and facilitating, multi-stakeholder partnerships and resource sharing in research into e-learning and distance learning education.

Members take part in and host discussions, seminars and courses, entirely online, to exchange and inform one another in areas of expertise in the research and practice of e-learning. Online events are intensive and focused for maximum benefit from minimum investment of time.

We invite institutions and individuals to become members and help staff and students all over the world better to understand and use learning technologies to support learning.

To request membership, or for more information, contact Helen Whitehead, convenor of ELKS, at [email protected]
