The Faculty places a strong emphasis on the provision of relevant skills training to all of its research postgraduates, and optional training for all other postgraduates. All research students should work with their supervisor to complete a Training Needs Analysis Form.

Faculty Research Skills Training For Research Students

University Research Training The University, through the Student Learning Centre, offers a range of workshops aimed specifically at research students. In addition it runs a "Skills for the Professional Researcher" programme of practical skills workshops (topics include databases, N6 qualitative analysis software, writing research proposals) in conjunction with the Staff Development Centre.

Research Skills Module in the MA Humanities Sessions open to Faculty Research Postgraduates

Beginners Latin A skills course in medieval Latin will begin on Wednesday 10th October. The Course is in Medieval Latin and is open to all postgraduate students. All sessions are on Wednesdays between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. venue TBA. The first session is on Wednesday 8th October.

Training for Small Group Teaching Teaching small groups and seminar classes, courses run in September, October an January. NB all those who wish to teach at the University must attend this course. Places are limited so please book early. Places must be booked through your department.

On-line Resources for Students Studying at a Distance In depth on-line resources specifically designed for students studying social sciences but with generic materials useful to all students studying for a PhD
