Welcome to the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Leicester. We have a long history of providing excellent teaching to our students and producing internationally renowned, cutting edge research. Our aim is to fire your intellectual curiosity about the politics of the world in which we live.
TEACHING: With an intake of approximately 80 undergraduate and 40 postgraduate students per year we have a reputation for putting our students first in maintaining a lively and supportive learning environment. With a wide range of option modules you can tailor your course around your specific area of interest and move into a variety of careers, or into postgraduate research.
RESEARCH: The research conducted within the department addresses a broad range of pressing issues, ranging from understanding contemporary British politics and traditions in Political Thought, to present day International Relations and conceptions of American Foreign Policy and International Security.
Within the department is the Centre for Diplomatic and International Studies (CeDIS), which is a focal point for research for those within the department and beyond.
