Fulltime PhD funding opportunities: AHRC Studentship, University Open Scholarships & School Bursaries

The School of Archaeology &  Ancient History is looking to recruit highly qualified graduates to join its vibrant research community. We are delighted to announce the following competitions for funding fulltime campus-based PhD places at the University of Leicester.

Topics in both Archaeology and Ancient History within the expertise of School staff, including themes spanning both disciplines, will be welcomed.

The School has one fulltime, campus-based PhD studentship funded by the AHRC.

The University is running two Open Scholarship competitions, which are open to applicants seeking to study topics in Archaeology or Ancient History, including research topics which span both disciplines.

In addition, the School of Archaeology & Ancient History is offering the following additional awards:

Students intending to study in the School and applying for the AHRC studentship or either of the University Open Scholarship competitions will also automatically be considered for a School bursary (NB scholarship winners may not also hold a bursary).

Candidates should apply for the relevant Open Scholarship competition following the instructions for application set out in the relevant web pages linked above.

*NB If you are interested in applying, please contact the School as soon as possible, and well in advance of the closing date, as it will be necessary to negotiate your thesis topic and agree your main supervisor before application. Please look at the School’s website, especially pages detailing individual staff research interests and areas of supervision offered (links below).
