Being an ODP
An Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) provides a professional service within the multidisciplinary environment of a hospital’s operating department. They are engaged in the delivery of individualised patient care. The duties of the ODP involve working closely with doctors and other professionals to ensure that the care delivered to patients is in line with best practice and aims for a successful patient outcome.
ODP Training
The ODP Training course has been designed in the belief that the integration of academic and work based learning in the theatre training environment, is the best way to develop students that are well equipped to meet the needs of future employers. Our ODP Education programme will also create a professional group of learners who have opportunities open to them for life long learning. The DipHE Operating Department Practice qualification (Dip HE ODP) entitles the holder to apply for registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC), as a registered ODP.

If you don't live in Leicester that's fine, our ODP School works alongside local hospitals in and beyond the East Midlands and central UK, including Leicester, Nottingham, Northampton, Kettering, Chesterfield, Boston, Grantham and Milton Keynes to ensure that students are provided with the necessary experiences to develop their clinical skills and are exposed to the reality of employment where they live.
Training as a student ODP is interesting; working as a qualified ODP is fascinating and rewarding, job, career and earning opportunities are excellent. Our successful students enjoy the caring environment in which they work, get a high level of job satisfaction and meet a lot of interesting people while they are at work.
