Welcome to the Centre

The Medieval Research Centre was established in 1996 to co-ordinate interdisciplinary research in medieval subjects across the Faculty of Arts at the University of Leicester, sponsoring conferences, colloquia, and a programme of lectures and seminars by local and visiting speakers.

Affiliated scholars are based in the School of Archaeology and Ancient History, The School of English, The School of Historical Studies (including the Centre for English Local History), and in the Department of the History of Art and Film, with research interests in fields ranging from late antique archaeology to the visual culture of the sixteenth century. The Centre is the focus of a lively postgraduate culture, whose members are studying for taught MA and research degrees in the full range of disciplines represented within the Faculty. It has also added to this culture through the introduction of study options via a modular course in the postgraduate MA in Humanities.
