NEW PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT AND APPROVAL
Code of Practice on Programme Development and Approval
Proposals to develop new programmes, or to substantially alter existing programmes (change of title, replacement of more than one third of the core modules, addition or deletion of a distinctive element e.g. year abroad) must be considered by:
a) Programme Development Committee
b) Faculty Board
c) Programme Approval Panel
The programme development and approval process is illustrated here.
The dates in 2007-08 for meetings of the Programme Development Committee and Programme Approval Panels, together with the submission dates for documents are here.
PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT
The first stage of the process is consideration by the Programme Development Committee. Please contact Sally Hall (ext 3906 email: [email protected]) when you are considering submitting a proposal to the Committee.
Proposals should be submitted to Sally Hall by the head of school or department on the form, the Outline Business Case
Once, a proposal has received a recommendation to proceed from the Programme Development Committee, it can go forward to the next main stage: Programme Approval.
Following a PDC positive recommendation, approval in principle from the Faculty Board should also be obtained so that the programme can be advertised to potential students.
PROGRAMME APPROVAL
The second stage in the process is programme approval and the main contact for this process is Catherine Cryer (email: [email protected] ext: 5199).
