This provides an overview of the University of Leicester World Wide Web Site

Information available via the University of Leicester Web site is provided by authorised Web account holders at the University. Within the University the system is usually referred to as the CWIS - the Corporate Web Information Service. Staff in the Computer Centre provide the necessary support for this service.

The University of Leicester Web site may be considered to provide, or provide access to, two groups of information:

• Externally oriented information: Marketing, recruitment, admissions and profile raising, local environment.
• Internally oriented information: Campus Information; Teaching and Learning resources.

Internal and External home pages have been provided to reflect the information available. Users who request the University home page, without explicitly specifying which, will be automatically directed to the appropriate one depending on whether they are accessing the CWIS on or off campus.

Key places to find information:

• A search facility - allows you to search all pages on the University's Web site.
• An alphabetical contents list - provides a listing of all of the major sections.
• A departmental profile page - provides hierarchical access to academic departments and centres at the University.
• A services page - provides an alphabetical listing of services provided at the University, including Academic Services.
• A telephone directory CAMPUS ONLY - contains staff phone numbers.
• An email directory CAMPUS ONLY - contains email addresses of all users registered with the Computer Centre.
• A University page - provides information about the University and its structure, as well as links to job vacancies and maps.
