Two year, distance learning course
Course Summary
Occupational psychology is a major growth area in psychology.
The MSc in Occupational Psychology is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). It is a two-year part-time course studied through distance learning. The principal aim of the course in to equip students with a sound knowledge and understanding of a broad range of topics in Occupational Psychology. This knowledge includes an appreciation of research and theory. However, there is also a strong emphasis on giving students an awareness of how psychology can be used to help organizations to better understand and solve problems.
Students studying on the MSc in Occupational Psychology will study the following six modules:
- Research Methods
- Personnel Selection and Assessment
- Ergonomics
- The Psychology of Organsing (including teams, leadership, organisational change, motivation, organisational culture)
- The Psychology of Occupational Training and Learning
- The Individual at Work (including stress, work-life balance, workplace counselling, managing diversity, performance management and career development)
Students will also complete a dissertation on an organisational issue of their choice. This can involve carrying out applied empirical research (usually within an organisation) or completing a literature review, or the design of a research study.
