The Protein Nucleic Acid Chemistry Laboratory
PNACL is an extremely well-equipped Core Facility that has been providing excellence in analytical services and collaborative research since 1996.
Key technologies include DNA Sequencing, SNP Genotyping, Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry, and Protein Sequencing.
The PNACL team is headed by Dr. Sharad Mistry. Expertise in proteomics and mass spectrometry is provided by Dr. Andrew Bottrill.
The other members of the laboratory are Shairbanu Ibrahim and Joan Sutherland.
PNACL is part of the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Leicester, one of the UK's leading research and teaching universities.
The School is comprised of the Departments of Biochemistry (5), Biology (5), Cell Physiology and Pharmacology (5A) and Genetics (5*).

In addition to underpinning the research of these departments, PNACL routinely collaborates with researchers across
the University of Leicester, MRC Toxicology Unit, and Leicester Hospitals (Glenfield Hospital, Leicester General and Leicester Royal Infirmary).
PNACL services are also offered externally to both Academic Institutions and to Industry.
